PantryPals Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
PantryPals (\u201cthe app\u201d) is developed by Neobile LLC. This policy explains what PantryPals does,
and does not do, with data.
The core promise: it stays on your device
PantryPals has no account and no cloud back end. Everything you add — your
pantry items, expiry dates, receipt scans, item photos, notes, shopping list, and store names — is
stored locally on your device and is never sent to the developer.
On-device processing
- Receipt & photo scanning runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision
framework. The image is read locally to pull out item names; it is not uploaded anywhere.
- Recipe ideas are generated on your device. On an Apple-Intelligence iPhone (iOS 26)
they use Apple's on-device language model; on other devices a built-in deterministic recipe engine is
used. Your items are not sent to any external AI service.
- Expiry reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your
device. There is no push server and no tracking — the reminders are created and delivered locally.
- Your data is stored with Apple's SwiftData framework on the device. iCloud sync is
off in this version, so your pantry does not leave the device.
Permissions
- Camera — used only when you choose to scan a receipt or take a photo of an
item. You can always add items by typing instead.
- Photo Library — used only when you choose to pick a receipt or item photo.
PantryPals accesses only the image you select.
- Notifications — requested only so PantryPals can remind you before food expires.
Optional; the app works without them.
You can change these any time in the Settings app.
What PantryPals does NOT do
- No account or sign-up.
- No servers — your pantry, receipts, and photos are not uploaded to us.
- No advertising SDKs and no cross-app tracking.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of data with third parties.
Purchases
In-app purchases (PantryPals Pro) are handled entirely by Apple through the App
Store/StoreKit. The developer never receives your payment details; the app only learns whether you
currently have an active purchase, validated on-device via StoreKit.
Children's privacy
PantryPals is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including
children.
