ChairRate Support

Salon Pricing Calculator — help & frequently asked questions.

How does ChairRate compute my hourly rate?

From your own numbers: take-home goal ÷ (1 − tax set-aside), plus fixed overhead, divided by (1 − revenue-based rates), divided by your realistic billable hours (bookable hours × utilization × working weeks). Tap How calculated under the result to see every line with your figures substituted.

Why is the service margin field different from markup?

ChairRate uses true profit margin: target price = floor ÷ (1 − margin). A $100 floor at 20% margin is $125, not $120 — multiplying by 1.2 would be markup, which understates what you need to keep.

Which costs go where?

Every cost lives in exactly one category so nothing is counted twice: fixed overhead (rent, insurance) feeds your hourly rate; percent-of-revenue rates (card fees) sit inside the rate’s denominator; per-service product and assistant costs appear only on that service’s floor price.

Is the booth vs. commission result my take-home pay?

No — both sides are estimated monthly cash before tax, and the card lists what is excluded (income tax, benefits, paid time off, health-insurance differences). Employee vs. independent status also has legal implications beyond the math.

What do the purchases add?

All calculators are fully usable without buying anything, forever. The optional upgrade adds the saved business profile, cost library, service menu with reprice-all, saved scenarios and comparisons, and PDF export.

How do I restore my purchases?

Open More → Restore Purchases. Purchases restore on any device signed into the same Apple Account.

How do I change the language?

Go to More → Language. ChairRate ships in English, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazil), and follows your device language by default.

Is my data private?

Yes. The app is fully offline, has no account, and collects no data. Read the Privacy Policy.
