My LoopCal Support
LoopCal converts, verifies, and documents 4–20 mA instrument loops — direct or
reverse acting, linear or square-root — completely offline, with the substituted formula
shown on every result.
Common questions
- Which signal ranges are supported? 4–20 mA, 0–20 mA,
0–10 V, 1–5 V, and your own custom endpoints. Engineering ranges accept any unit,
including negative and offset spans.
- When should I use the square-root function? Use it for differential-pressure
flow transmitters that output a signal proportional to the square of flow, when square-root
extraction has not already been applied in the transmitter or the host system. Applying
it twice is the most common field error — check the transmitter configuration first.
- What does reverse acting do? It maps the low engineering value to the high
signal value (20 mA) and the high engineering value to the low signal value (4 mA). The direction
is shown on screen and printed on every worksheet.
- How is the error tolerance computed? You choose the basis: percent of span,
signal units, or engineering units. The result summary reports the worst point and the maximum
error on the basis you selected.
- What does the loop-power section calculate? Shunt resistor voltage drop,
required supply voltage and remaining compliance, and maximum loop and wire resistance.
- Do I need to purchase anything to calculate? No. All conversions, all
loop-power math, and unlimited temporary three-point, five-point, and custom checks are always
available, with no usage counter. The optional upgrade adds saved instruments and unlimited
history, as-found/as-left persistence, reusable saved procedures, due reminders, company
identity, and PDF/CSV export.
- Restore purchases: More → Access → Restore Purchases after
reinstalling or switching devices.
- Is my data uploaded? Never. There is no account and the app makes no network
requests. See the Privacy Policy.
Safety
LoopCal is a calculation aid and field worksheet — not a calibrator, not an accredited
calibration service, and not a replacement for manufacturer procedures. Always follow site
