StudyTape Support

StudyTape turns the lectures you record into study material. Record a class (or import a recording you already have) and the app writes the transcript, then makes a study set — a summary, key terms, flashcards and quiz questions. Every card plays back the moment of the lecture it came from, so you can hear your professor say it again. Everything is made and kept on your phone.

Common questions

Am I allowed to record my class? Check your school’s and your instructor’s recording policy before you record. Many schools allow recordings for personal study; some require permission.
What happens if my phone locks or the app closes while recording? Recording goes on with the screen locked. The audio is saved to the phone as you record, so if the app is closed unexpectedly the lecture is recovered up to the last saved moment the next time you open StudyTape.
Which phones make study sets? Study sets are made by Apple Intelligence on the device, so they need a phone that supports Apple Intelligence, iOS 26 or later, and Apple Intelligence turned on in iOS Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri. Recording, transcripts and search work on every supported phone.
Which languages are supported? Study sets are made from English lectures in this version. Pick your accent of English in Settings → Lecture language.
Can I use recordings I already have? Yes. Tap Import on the Lectures screen, or share an audio file to StudyTape from another app’s share sheet. Files up to 4 hours can be imported.
I used My EchoNote. Where are my recordings? My EchoNote is now StudyTape. Your recordings are in the lecture list, with your folders turned into courses. Audio that could not be opened is kept under Settings → Storage → Earlier recordings, where you can share it.
How do I restore a purchase on a new phone? Settings → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account.
Where is my data? Only on your phone. There is no account and no cloud copy, so export anything you want to keep before you delete the app.

Summaries, cards and quiz questions are generated on your device from the transcript. Check anything important against the recording — every card links to the moment it came from.
